or: ...similar to the front bumpers on the "Ala Kart"....for the Prowler, lengthened to the stock length and no larger or smaller than the stock bumpers....slightly curved in on the ends on the rear bumpers... look at the red model car This message has been edited by Orange on 02-22-2004 at 02:41 AM By the way, I am only going by the description you gave, never seen these before (I'm too young...)tangled up in BLUE ...In old model car kits and old custom car magazines there were cars that had bumpers front and rear that were shaped sorta like a paper clip, made out of chrome tubing, two per front and two per rear.....they would have roughly the same shape as the current Prowler bumpers but be like a chrome loop....I think the style would really compliment the looks of a Kat and am kinda surp[rised no one has designed or made them for the Prowler.....think they would be a natural....wish I had a pix to better describe.....
sort of like a chrome loop with a chrome Prowler in the center of the bumpers,..... I know many of the 50' customs had these....anyone here able to read my mind ???(it's a very short story) Kevin A Like these? if so, no idea what special name they had.... tangled up in BLUE nope, not even close....I need to look up some old custom rods when I get some time...seem to remember these maybe on the Ala Kart .... tangled up in BLUE If I only had a brain.... butchcee I know the ones you mean, but couldn't find a pic--gave up looking. KlasKat Awesome idea. I remember those. That would be nice with the Prowler etched in the center part. tangled up in BLUE the bumpers should be light looking, not real heavy or thick....the center could have the Prowler Kat ....but the bumpers need to be roughly the same dimensions as the stock ones to flow....we used to call them "Nerf Bars" when I was a kid....several of the neighborhood rods had these....I don't know if that is the right name, just what a bunch of kids called them....lots of 50s' model car kits had these bumpers on the chrome tree as custom pieces.... JRL I know what you mean. Like a long paper clip.
Used a lot on late 50's and early 60's hot rods.
They usually were custom made and if someone made them then they don't anymore.
I don't think they would look too good on a Kat.
JRLed monahan Larry, I guess you shouldn't get any then. lol obi-wan The name of this type of bumper is called a KNURF BAR. It stems from the bent soild or hollow bars developde for quarter migit race cars of the 40's and 50's. Later on-Before bumper standards didtated be the Fed gov. these begain to be seen on special cars like the ones in the pic's. They have little strenght, but they really look cool. I built many of these for custom cars in my area and had a lot of fun doing them. Many custom builders used them 'cus they were cuts and much smaller and finer that the "buggy" bumpers of cars of the fifties and sixtys.I hope i've helped. Obi-Wan Orange Is this what you mean?
